Gulf Coast Western Reviews Highlight Five Decades of Oil Work

Thomas H. Fleeger founded Gulf Coast Western in Dallas, Texas, in 1970, and the company has spent the decades since acquiring and developing domestic oil and gas reserves. A December 2021 profile published by CBN traces that history, covering the firm’s expansion, its leadership, and the Gulf Coast Western reviews that investors have posted about their experiences.

From Texas Roots to Five States

The company first concentrated on reserves in Texas and Louisiana. Over time, it moved into Mississippi and other resource-rich Gulf Coast states, where it now holds development rights to thousands of acres. Operations hubs in Oklahoma and Colorado followed, and the profile notes that additional expansion opportunities are under review.

Acquisitions drove much of that growth. A 2016 deal involving Northcote Energy Ltd. gave Gulf Coast Western a 50% working interest in several key Northcote wells, plus related saltwater disposal resources. That same year, subsidiary Orbit Gulf Coast Exploration LLC announced the purchase of all Orbit Energy Partners LLC assets. The package included proprietary rights to 100 square miles of 3D seismic data near Lafayette, Louisiana.

What Investors Report

According to the profile, the company holds an “A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau and has kept a five-star customer review profile. The article calls such consistently positive feedback a rare occurrence in the oil industry and links it to the company’s habit of acting on client comments.

Several Gulf Coast Western reviews quoted in the piece focus on follow-through. One repeat investor with almost five years of involvement wrote, “They are a top-notch organization. They do what they say they are going to do.” Another client, writing in July 2021, acknowledged market swings but added, “I would highly recommend this company to anyone interested in investing in the oil business.”

Matthew Fleeger, the founder’s son, has served as President and CEO since 2009. The profile credits him with sharply reducing corporate overhead after the 2008 recession while keeping key personnel and major prospect investments in place. Those decisions, the author argues, left Gulf Coast Western a stronger business once the economy steadied. Read this article for more information.
