Wengie is a YouTube vlogger who creates fun and informative videos on life hacks and DIY projects. In this video “DIY Edible School Supplies- 8 Pranks For Back To School” Wengie shows how to make eight different edible treats and hide them in ordinary school related packaging.
She starts by making gelatin colored crayons in bright and convincing colors and wrapping them in the crayon papers. Next she uses Brazil nuts to create pencil shaving look alike then changes a pencil eraser in to an tasty snack using musk sticks, an Australian treat that is traditionally bright pink and tastes floral.
Wengie continues her creative deceptions by using Bubble Tape gum to replace the erasers on the tops of her pencils and also shows how to make gummy fruit flavored molds to sculpt in to large erasers. One of her most creative edible pranks was using food markers and disguising them as Sharpies to draw delicious pictures on her tongue. She finishes with glucose syrup, or liquid sugar, poured in to a cleaned Elmer’s glue bottle and utilizes stacked Starbursts to recreate a glue stick. Not only are the products she creates fun and inventive but during the video she acts out quirky scenarios with the hidden edibles that could be used to fool friends at school making the video much more lighthearted.
Wengie gives step by step instructions that are not only visually revealing but verbally descriptive as well for each project. All eight activities are easy to follow and appropriate for DIY enthusiasts of all ages. She also makes sure to emphasis safety when creating these treats since most of them involve using a sharp knife or cooking surface. Wengie’s creative imagination of transforming plane school objects in to enticing sweet treats makes this video interesting to watch but it’s her bubbly personality and expressiveness that makes it very entertaining.
