The spirituality and religion of Judaism have had an incredible impact on the faith of the world. Traditions of mysticism have arisen out of this religion and grown into spiritual movements of their own. One such example of this mystical spirituality is Kabbalah. Rooted in Jewish mysticism but distinct from it in many ways, Kabbalah emphasizes a union with God and the relationship between prayer and divine forces. With its rising popularity among New Age crowds, introducing a new generation to timeless spiritual traditions.
Founded in 1965, the Kabbalah Center opened up with the goal of informing the public about the spiritual practice of Kabbalah. Historically, most Kabbalah teachers believed that the spirituality of Kabbalah was too complicated for most and would only teach the practices to those over the age of 40. The Kabbalah Center takes a more inclusive approach in the way it instructs students. Students are not required to necessarily to understand Hebrew or Jewish texts beforehand.
The Kabbalah Center doesn’t condemn or critique the teachings of other religions. Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism are understood to be different paths to reaching spiritual truth. As a part of this view Kabbalah is not seen as an alternative religion but as something to combine with the religion of one’s choosing. The center focuses on getting its members to see reality beyond their senses and tangible physicality.
As students progress and gain a stronger connection to God, the true meaning of Kabbalah becomes more apparent. In recent years the Kabbalah Center has attracted attention due to celebrities taking interest in its teachings. Famous stars such as Madonna, Britney Spears, and Ariana Grande have all taken an interest in Kabbalah. They have spread the message about this ancient but relevant spiritual tradition and shown young people the importance of its mysticism.
