Stephen Murray: An Impact That Won’t Soon Be Forgotten

Posted by SS Admin on August 8, 2016 in Business, Legacy |

We all hope to live long and healthy lives and make the world a better place that it was when we entered it. Stephen Murray is one of those cases of gone too soon, gone way too soon. His loss, to this day, is still felt by so many people.

That is the kind of man he was and the kind of impact he made on the world. I think we would all aspire to be someone like Stephen Murray.

His legacy, no one can take that away from him, and they certainly can’t take away his accomplishments, as they speak for themselves.

In his career, he was a private equity investor, president and chief executive officer of CCMP Capital, and a philanthropist. For right now, I’m going to focus on his work as a philanthropist, as for me, that is what is sticking with me in the moment and in my heart of hearts.

It takes a special kind of person to be a philanthropist. You have to be unselfish, caring, and you have to truly go the extra mile for people. Quite frankly, not a lot of people have it in them.

They are so focused on themselves and what they can do for themselves that they don’t take the time to even consider someone else or how they are feeling about a certain situation. That is the farthest thing from their mind. Stephen Murray, however, was different. He was a thoughtful man that spent many days and nights thinking about how he could help people and the difference he could make on their lives.

It was very important to him and something he discussed at length with his four children and his wife.

That is why he was so proud of the work he did for Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York, Boston College, the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County, Stamford Museum, and Columbia Business School. It should be noted that he never did any of this to get attention or feel good about himself.

That was never the reason behind his moves or his motives. His intentions were one hundred and ten percent pure. I truly believe people picked up on that and knew he was an authentic and real person.
